Sounds

There are certain sounds in life which bring me an intense amount of joy or sadness. They're everyday noises that may fade into the humming background along with your refrigerator or they may stand out as still dismissible because of their regularity. They include:

Fizzing bubbles-- in my Coke Zero after the third sip. It's just nice to know that it's still fizzy. It's my afternoon snack and satisfies my ferocious sweet tooth. Specifically Coke Zero and specifically the third sip. It's the one that reminds me to slow down and enjoy the moment.

The click of a closing door--still makes me jump. Somedays it's harder than others to remember that I'm an adult now and eventually I'll live on my own. For now, the dorm has become semi-homey but I still hate to have the door closed when I'm alone in my room. Funny how you can live with 300+ people and thin walls and doorknobs are all that it takes to make you feel alone.

"God bless you"--after a sneeze. You might not realize it, but that means a lot to me. It's a simple reminder that God is an underlying theme even if people want to avoid the subject. Like politics, it affects us all yet whether it's the elephant or donkey in the room people will do whatever they can to avoid it. Confrontation doesn't have to be a negative experience. Neither does religion.

CRACK--of a baseball bat. One day I will devote an entire post to my theories and love of baseball but for now, just get excited about the upcoming event! This is the best sound on a Friday night in the dugout. I'm so blessed.

Spritz--of perfume. It's just one more layer to the look that can't quite be measured in perfection but overdoneness. It's more for the wearer's personal enjoyment but when someone else notices it's bliss.

That's all for now.
